Airain Type 20 Chronograph

Airain is one of the original French manufacturers of the Type 20, a pilot’s chronograph originally issued by the French Ministry of Defense in the 1950s. Other suppliers were makers like Breguet, Dodane and Mathey Tissot.

Now, Airain is producing again a faithful recreation of the Type 20; black dial, seconds at 3 and minute at 6 subdials, a chronograph complication with flyback functionality
and the capacity to track up to 30 minutes, vintage-inspired beige lume, a quite useful rotating 12 hour bezel, accuracy to 8 seconds per day and power reserve of 55 hours.

The re-edition case is slightly larger at 39.5mm made of stainless steel and a domed Hesalite crystal. It hosts a hand-wound AM1 movement from Manufacture La Joux-Perret S.A. in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Alongside the standard black dial, Airain will produce a limited batch of 134 pieces with brown dial. Both versions can be pre-order now at a price of $2,980. Check it out on airain.com https://www.airain.com/
