Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster
Nivada Grenchen was a renowned Swiss watchmaker producing timepieces since 1926. One of its most sought-after models was the Chronomaster, a waterproof chronograph up to 200 meters launched in 1963. The producer didn’t make it through the 1970s quartz crisis but the brand was revived in 2018, re-introducing the Chronomaster.
Under 2,000$, the new Chronomaster is a real replica of the vintage model, with a small 38mm case but with a modern Sellita SW510 movement. You can choose manual or automatic.
This chronograph was intended as an all-purpose professional watch with a number of possible applications. Back in the time it was advertised as the “CASD – Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver”.
For divers it offered 200m water resistance and a rotating bezel with 60 minute markings. For racing, it had a tachymeter scale on the dial and the chronograph. For pilots, 12-hour markings on the bezel. For boat racing, the first 5minutes were highlighted in red like a regatta counting down to the race’s start.
Its sporty vintage design, wide range of applications and the small case make of the Chronomaster a great option for thin wristed owners. Check it out on nivadagrenchenofficial.com.
