Nigel Cabourn x Timex Desert Watch
One of the coolest field watches made by Timex so far, British menswear designer Nigel Cabourn collaborated with the beloved watchmaker to produce the Desert Watch for just under $200.
This is a desert rats – desert storm themed military watch. The dial is a classic ww2 Flieger B design in sandy white background with not lumed olive drab hour markers. It has a small inner 24 hour scale and the regular 12 hour big scale.
With a 36mm diameter, the stainless steel case is in the small size range and it is only 10.5mm thick. It offers 30m water resistance. Crystal is mineral and the unit is powered by a quartz movement.
Lugs are fixed so they only allow to install military straps. A couple of cotton Zulu straps with NATO buckle are included in the package. One is in plain military khaki and the other, in a tricolor sandy white – olive drab – khaki regimental style.
The main difference between a NATO and a ZULU strap in this case is the rounded stainless steel loops, designed for heavy duty, thicker straps.
Finally, the Desert Watch comes with a canvas field pouch made of the same fabric and color than the straps, Ventile cotton, a natural barrier against destruction during inclement weather.
